The red-coated Toastmaster is a uniquely British tradition, lending distinction to formal and semi-formal ceremonies, events and celebrations. The modern Toastmaster offers the traditional services of greeting and announcing guests and introducing speeches and toasts, but combines these with the roles of advisor, organiser, function liaison, linkman and diplomat.

Jane Burridge, The Lady Toastmaster, is one of the very few professionally trained and accredited ladies working in this field. Jane will advise on the correct procedure in accordance with the accepted traditions of social order, protocol and etiquette; she will act as a master of ceremonies in a formal or informal manner; and she will co-ordinate the event on the day so host and guests may relax, knowing that someone has an eye on the clock, the formalities and the guests.

Jane says:

To most people attending a Wedding the main visible signs of the Toastmaster's presence are the relatively few announcements made. However, don't be misled: ninety percent of the activity is never seen by the majority of the people there. Careful planning beforehand, and discreet and unobtrusive attention to detail and close liaison throughout the day, ensure that it flows, apparently quite effortlessly, to a successful conclusion.

But don't just take my word for it! Here are some of my clients:

Jane's clients say:

"Firstly, you were utterly, utterly brilliant on Sunday. Thank you so much. We couldn't have asked for a better, more calm and wonderful toastmaster. You were (as my speech went) everything we could want, plus, a little bit more. You helped make everything flow smoothly, and you ensured that our wedding went exactly to plan. In fact, you did everything it said on the tin! "

"We have employed a variety of toastmasters in the past for various functions but never a lady and never one of such exceptional professionalism and expertise. You do your job so wonderfully well, always at hand but never obtrusive and our guests were suitably impressed."

"The evening was a huge success, praises are flying in from all directions. You were such a calming and reassuring influence and you looked superb."

"You did help to make a special day relaxed and enjoyable for us and I had needed convincing – while everything else had been meticulously planned for months, a toastmaster was a last minute addition, but in your case it was very much money well spent."

"Thank you so much for all of your help and advice, both before and during our wedding. We had a fantastic day and it was lovely to be able to leave it in your capable hands and just enjoy ourselves..."
